This was a fun reading month! Not only did I finally cave and read Fourth Wing (with just enough time to build up the anticipation for Iron Flame), I finished off Elsie Silver's Chestnut Springs series, and finally got into Liz Tomforde's Windy City Series and loved it. Here are all my reviews:

⭐️⭐️.5 | 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Overall, this was cute. I absolutely loved Nate and just how much he liked Anastasia but you cannot tell me I’m supposed to believe he’s a hockey boy in college. Nope, not going to happen HOWEVER, I’d still like to take a moment and share a few of my favourite bits of him:

“Looking at her, makes me want to be the funniest guy in the room, so I can be the one to make her laugh.”

“I could talk for hours about her beauty. Describe every freckle, every faint line, every inch of her body. Anastasia is like the sun, warm and blindingly beautiful.”

“There isn’t a version of me that is better without you by my side.”

“You ate twenty chicken nuggets in about four minutes. It was like you were in an eating competition, but you were the only contestant. I’ve never been more in love with you.”

I love him but there’s no way I’m to believe he’s 21/22. I may read a lot of fiction but this is caps lock: FICTION.

Anastasia and Sabrina’s friendship was cute but under developed in my opinion. I loved the banter between the hockey boys and especially loved sweet Henry. Aaron should’ve been slapped well before he was.

I know it was for the plot but Aaron’s comments about how much and when Anastasia should eat wasn’t enjoyable to read and put a damper on my reading experience.

Wanted to love but it was an “oh my god I loved this” for me. Sorry BookTok.

Read # 2 - October 2023: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶🌶🌶 Theo Silva tops my book boyfriend list and will hold that place for a long, long time. Theo is everything and more. I am in love. Read # 1 - June 2023: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶🌶🌶 Theo Silva - yes, please & thank you! He's made it (high) on my book-boyfriend list!😮‍💨 Hands down my favourite in the series. I LOVED Theo the second Winter laid eyes on him - all confident and flirty. The two had so much chemistry I was giggling and kicking my feet the entire book. Theo was so smooth. He knew what (who) he wanted the second he saw it (Winter) and I ate it up. I love when the man falls hard and fast and we can read it in his POV. I just love a man written by a woman, period. "I don't want to be the one-night stand who's used to scratch an itch. I want a woman like Winter Hamilton - beautiful, and smart, and sharp-tongued - to look at me and see a future." - Theo, 16% "I leaned against the bar, bottle of beer in hand, burning lasers into a guy I generally like for daring to dance with the woman I'm in love with while I wait for her to decide if she might like to be in love with me too." - Theo, 60% - as if I couldn't have already loved him more at this point, I did after that. He also said a lot of things that I highlighted that I cannot share publically - haha This was Winter's redemption story and I'm so thrilled with how everything worked out for her. I truly loved Winter and she's my favourite lead of the series. Her mending her very broken relationship with Summer warmed my heart. I loved seeing the two sisters together and attempting to overcome the wrongdoings of their childhood. Harvey is also a literal gem. Hilarious(ly inappropriate) and so wise: "Doesn't much matter who she's dancing with when her eyes are on you." - Harvey, 60% I'm in love with Theo and will be purchasing the physical for my collection. One of my favourite reads of the year (thank you Ash xoxo)!

⭐️⭐️.5 | 🌶️🌶️.5

I absolutely adored the Chestnut Springs series and everyone in it but unfortunately, I didn’t love the final book as much as I was hoping. Beau and Bailey were cute but not my favourite (Theo and Winter will forever hold that title).

I look forward to re-reading the series because overall, I really did love it.

“I’m done pretending to be head over heels in love with you because I’m legitimately head over heels in love with you. And acting like I’m not tears me up.” - Beau

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 | 🌶️

I absolutely loved this and ate it up in nearly one sitting. Completely worth the hype! I will say I saw the “cliffhanger” coming and guessed the twist but overall, so fun!

I cannot wait for book 2!

⭐️⭐️ | 🌶️🌶️

This took me aaggeeesss to get through. I started and put it down more times than I’d like to admit but we got there. After I passed the 20% mark I was able to get into it. Zanders was fun and I loved how much he was into Stevie.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 | 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Ryan Shay, the man that you are.

This was so, SO good. Ryan was so, SO good. Another book boyfriend on the list.

Indy, the hopeless romantic not matter what. A gal after my own heart.

I’m just beaming after this one.🥹

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶️🌶️

Kaaaiiii!! Baseball players > hockey players. I said what I said.

I think the single dad trope is one of my favourites which is funny cause I’m not particularly fond of kids, especially in books.

I love nothing more than seeing characters from the series make appearances. Rio continues to make me laugh out loud.

“Miller,” he says, making sure my attention is on him. “If you ever decide to stop running and make a home…” His eyes are begging, pleading. “Make it with me.” 🥹

⭐️ | 🌶️🌶️

This was so disappointing. I wanted something spooky with a twist and I saw the “twist” coming from a mile away. I’ve only read three of Geissinger’s books and all three had a very similar underlying “cause” to the mystery and it feels like a bit of a crutch?

I just felt bad for Theo the entire time (once I got over being creeped out by him).

I'm SO beyond excited to dive in Iron Flame! Fingers are crossed I love it as much as Fourth Wing and I'm left gasping and/or crying at the ending because who doesn't love a little emotional warfare?!

xx
