The Books I Read In November 2023

I'm not going to pretend to have posted this blog close to the end of November (let's just say the last month has been a lot) but after a trip to Europe and a few additional days of vacation, I got a good amount of reading done and it turned out to be an incredible reading month!

Here's everything I read in November:

⭐️⭐️⭐️

What started off as a tragic story very quickly turned into a love story. I would’ve liked to see a bit more of the progression from grief to the love and while the time jump felt necessary, the transition didn’t feel so smooth.

The plot reminded me a bit of Regretting You by Colleen Hoover which I didn’t mind as I enjoyed that one.

Overall, a fun read. Something different to my typical contemporary romance.

I really wanted to love this but sadly, not so much. I was so excited to get Violet’s story after reading the Chestnut Springs series and getting to know a bit more about the gal that was raised by sweet Harvey.

I liked both Violet and Cole but I did not like how they met and then when he introduced himself in person… no thank you. It came across as a bit creepy and almost degrading towards Violet? I know not the intention but that’s how I saw it.

This took a while to get through (this was my second attempt at reading) but the end was sweet. Still love Elsie!🫶🏻

“I stare back at her, trying to look unimpressed, even though her amusement is contagious. Even though she’s so fucking beautiful that it hurts.” - Cole

No you don’t understand, I LOVED this. Julian Lopez can. Absolutely yes. Monday through Sunday, no questions asked.

I adored this. I typically don’t love enemies to lovers but this one did not disappoint. It also felt second chance-ish which is one of my all-time favourite tropes.

If this is any indication of how good this series is going to be well then buckle me in cause I’m here for this ride.

Here are a few (lol) examples of when I fell for Julian:

“Seeing her in action takes my breath away.”

“Dahlia flashes Fred a beautiful smile that makes the stunning flowers around her fade into the background. The usual tightness in my chest returns at the sight of her, making breathing a chore.”

““What do you want?” His gaze flickers over my face. “Anything you’re willing to give me.””

“Whatever it is, I’ll fix it. Whoever hurt her, I’ll ruin them. And whenever she needs someone to lean on, I will be there.” ‼️‼️‼️

““But what about your company?” “Turns out I’d rather build a home with you than a thousand houses by myself.””

“Mine to love. Mine to marry. Mine to cherish for as long as we live.”

I have mixed feelings about this book but the romance between Xaden and Violet was good. Xaden was so good. There are certain scenes that will live in my head rent free.

While I really enjoyed the first part, there were many moments throughout where I found it dragging. I’m not a fantasy reader but tried my best to follow along with the history, complex characters, and the crucial parts of the “magic” but felt a bit overwhelmed by it all. I don’t think it’s as “non-fantasy reader” friendly as Rebecca has advertised.

I will read the next book (because that ending!?!) but I’m not on fire for it.

This was a special read. I loved this so much more than I thought I would and it's easily become one of my favourite books. I don't cry while I read very often but this one truly made me feel. I audibly gasped, laughed, shed tears and I wish I could go back and read it for the first time again.

This book spoke so beautifully about the art of love and happiness. Being in love, learning to love, losing love, and the lifelong battle everyone faces in trying to capture their definition of joy. At the center, this is a love story but it's also a story of friendship between very unique individuals.

To any fellow romance readers (and fellow hopeless romantics who love, love), if you read one book I recommend this year, let it be this one. I'm currently making my list of top 10 reads of 2023 and Love and Other Human Errors has solidified a very high place on that list. I know I will reread this one many times.

Love is not an exact science. It cannot be measured, calculated, or predicted. "Maybe love isn't meant to be solved. Maybe it's supposed to remain a wonderful, beautiful mystery."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was simply incredible. She fell hard but he fell harder. God I love it when that happens.

I genuinely laughed out loud more times than I can remember. The banter. The chemistry. Daniel?!? Just incredible. I’m absolutely gushing.

Also, I love a fade to black? Abby does the tension and chemistry right!😮‍💨

Read # 2 - November 2023:

⭐️⭐️

I was hoping to reread an old favourite but it didn’t land the same way it did the first time around.

This was cute but there was such a lack of communication throughout that all issues would’ve just been resolved with a simple conversation, one of my least favourite tropes.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was cute as hell. I grew up as a hardcore fangirl so the entire premise of this book made my little fangirl heart happy.

Sweet Sloane finally got her happy ever after. I simply adored Jason. Abby knows how to write a man in love.

The bit where Jason noticed Sloane at the concert?! Are you kidding me? Every fangirl’s dream. I ate it up!

And The 1975 songs as part of the playlist? The cherry on top!🙌🏻

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Gah this was fun! Those Copeland genes.😏

I was a bit hesitant about the influencer MFC but it wasn’t done in a way the leans into the stereotypes, thank goodness. Abby never misses when writing a man in love.

I will read everything Abby publishes!🙌🏻

I'm flying through books this month (December) and now attempting to make my Top 10 Reads of 2023 list. It's going to be a challenging one to make. Stay tuned!

xx
