It truly is the most wonderful time of the year when you check your inbox and see a message waiting from your beloved Sephora telling you that their semi-annual sale is just around the corner! Well guess what ladies and gents, the sale is happening now!
If you’re a member of Sephora’s loyalty program then you already know the drill, but if you’re new, let me lay out how the program works. There are 3 tiers to the program; Insider, VIB (Very Important Beauty), and Rouge. There are certain qualifications for each tier.
When you sign up for the membership (which is initially free btw), you become an Insider. With this level, you have access to a free birthday gift (choice of 3) during your birthday month and the ability to collect points when you shop (1 point per $) to redeem trial-size beauty products! During Sephora sales, you receive an assess code in your email to receive 10% off your total during the given sale dates (*some exclusions apply)
In order to qualify for VIB, you must spend $350 per calendar year (taxes excluded). With this level, you will also receive a free birthday gift (choice of 4) during your birthday month and receive 1.25 points per $ you spend to redeem trial-size beauty products. During Sephora sales, you receive an access code in your email to receive 15% off your total during the given sale dates (*some exclusions apply).
Finally, in order to qualify for Rouge status, you must spend $1,000 per calendar year (taxes excluded). With this prestige level, not only do you receive a free birthday gift (choice of 4), 1.5 points per $ you spend to redeem trail-size products, you receive FREE shipping on all orders, early access to new products, invites to exclusive events, and the ability to use your collected points to redeem a $100 gift card! Pretty sweet eh? Well you haven’t heard the best part! During the Sephora sales, you receive an access code in your email to receive 20% off your total during the given sale dates and more likely than not, Rouge shopping dates start before and last longer than the other two tiers (*some exclusions apply).
Spring Sale 2020 dates:
Insider: 4/23 - 4/27
VIB: 4/21 - 4/29
Rouge: 4/17 - 5/01
Now that you’re familiar with Sephora’s loyalty program, let’s talk makeup! When this time of year rolls around, I typically have a list of things that I’m anxiously awaiting to add to my cart and checkout. This is also the time of year when I stock up on the items (makeup or skincare) that I use on a daily basis. Here are some of the things I picked up during the sale!
Let’s start with skincare! I’ve always been quite hesitant shopping for skincare online as I have very sensitive skin and I’m always terrified of my skin breaking out or having an allergic reaction. Since I’ve found some items that work, I stick to these and don’t tend to play many games with my skin by testing new products. I appreciate Youtubers trying out skincare but I don’t think that’s something I could do.
My skincare basket:
I use this gem every morning before applying my makeup! It’s light enough that my skin doesn’t feel cakey before putting makeup on but gives my face the moisture it needs.
This is my go-to in the shower (with my Foreo Luna Mini) and great for taking makeup off!
This cream is much thicker (hence its name) but it’s perfect for the night, during those cold Canadian months and it’s also great for the whole body, not just your face!
4. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 - $6.80
This was a first-time buy for me, but not a first-time buy of the brand. You use this twice a day under your daily moisturizer and it’ll relieve some of your dryness from your face!
5. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask - $26
I had tried this sleeping mask in a mini size a few months ago and love it! It’s a thick softening balm for your lips that not only works but smells incredible!
I had received the original Brazillian Bum Bum Cream as part of my free birthday gift from Sephora and fell in love with the scent. The cream smelt so amazing I had to pick up the body spray!
My makeup basket:
This concealer is perfect for the under-eye area and for adding a bit more coverage to those pesky spots.
I only purchased one makeup item as I haven’t been wearing any makeup over the last month and a bit since I’ve been home so much more now than I normally am. Now is a great time to explore skincare and treat yourself to that little something you’ve been eyeing on sephora.ca ! If you do end up making a purchase, I’d love to hear what you bought and any recommendations you may have for me for the next sale!
xx Lex
